Hello Grant County residents. I am Scott Haley and I am here today to announce my candidacy for the upcoming Sheriff's race next year. I have been with the Sheriff's Department for over 27 years and have been a life long resident of Grant County.

I am a Graduate of Marion High School and attended Vincennes University where I studied Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement . I have been married to my wife, Angie Haley, for 25 years and we have two children.
In 1994, Sheriff Lawson hired me onto the Grant County Sheriff's Department. I worked in the Jail until 1997 and during this time was promoted to the rank of Corporal. In 1997, I was promoted to a Merit Deputy and I attended the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1998 graduating in class #134. In 2001, I became a K9 Handler and held this position for 10 years. Soon after in 2005 I was promoted to the rank Sergeant and In 2011, I was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. As a Lieutenant, I was assigned to the JEAN Team Drug Task Force and held this position for almost 4 years. In July of 2020, I was promoted to the rank of Captain. My responsibilities as Captain include working closely with the Courts and the Judges to insure safety at the Courthouse. Other responsibilities include arranging transports to and from the jail and the transportation of inmates to rehab facilities.

I have proudly served the IWU community as a Campus Police officer for the last 23 years and still actively work on campus.

As your Sheriff, I want to build relationships with the residents of Grant County. I want to attract quality employees to work at the Sheriff's Department and retain the great employees who now serve our community. In regards to the Jail, I believe that true reform begins with education and treatment. I plan to work diligently with the Courts and the Probation Department to accomplish this goal.

Last and foremost, I want to give Grant County an honest, loyal, and fair person to manage the Sheriff's responsibilities. During this campaign you will see us work in the same way we plan to serve you, respectfully and reliably.
